A woman lost her life and three others were injured in a two-vehicle collision on Sunday morning on Indianapolis' north side. The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) reported to the 5900 block of Kessler Boulevard East Drive at approximately 9:52 a.m. following a report of a crash.
According to WTHR, the fatal incident involved an eastbound gray vehicle and a white vehicle traveling in the opposite direction. The driver of the gray vehicle, an adult female and the car’s sole occupant, was declared dead at the scene. Due to entrapment concerns, the Indianapolis Fire Department was summoned to assist.
The IMPD's standard procedure following such incidents led to the driver of the white vehicle, an adult male, being taken to Eskenazi Hospital for a blood draw, despite showing no signs of impairment, as reported by FOX 59. The two other passengers of the white vehicle, both adults, were transported to a local hospital to treat minor injuries they sustained, having been involved in the accident that led to vehicles being towed.
The Marion County Coroner's Office took charge of determining the exact cause and manner of the deceased woman's death, though no additional details have been disclosed as of the last reports. When a name becomes available, the MCCO will release the identity of the victim, subsequent to notification of her family, WRTV notes.
