Early this morning, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) responded to a serious incident on the near east side of the city that resulted in one person being seriously injured, as reported by WTHR. At approximately 9:15 a.m., the IMPD was alerted to a shooting during an attempted robbery in the 2200 block of East Washington Street, close to Willard Park and just blocks west of South Rural Street.
After the police arrived, they discovered a victim who had sustained serious injuries and was then transported to a local hospital, with an IMPD spokesperson confirming the injury's severity, the car believed to be associated with the incident was found deserted down the street shortly after it was taken from the front of the property. According to CBS4 Indy, the officers who responded belong to the department’s southeast district and were quick to arrive at the scene following the report of the shooting.
Authorities are reaching out to the public for help; anyone with information is encouraged to come forward, the IMPD is calling for the community's assistance in providing any details that could assist them in their ongoing investigation, meanwhile, the identity of the victim has not been released and their current condition remains a primary concern.
