A FedEx truck became the focal point of delays and detours on Florida's Turnpike in Miami-Dade after a mishap on Friday. The incident occurred just south of Okeechobee Road, impacting the flow of traffic near Hialeah Gardens and Medley. Onlookers witnessed the scene as a crane hoisted the overturned vehicle, while the remnants of cargo scattered across the asphalt, with Local 10 capturing the disruption from above.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, an unidentified driver collided with the FedEx truck, causing it to flip onto its side before the driver continued on their way. Amidst the chaos, slow-moving traffic was directed around the obstructed lanes. The thereafter of the accident, including the towing of the truck and relocation of parcels, was overseen by authorities and FedEx employees, who shifted all packages to two other trucks, as reported by WSVN.
Fortuitously, the incident, which caused significant interruption to the day's travel plans, resulted in no physical injuries. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue confirmed that despite the potential severity of such an event, none were hospitalized in its aftermath.
Meanwhile, as commuters navigated the altered traffic patterns, the recovery process was swift, ensuring the roadway was cleared with efficiency and the parcels reached their intended destinations, albeit behind schedule.
