Indianapolis is reeling from a sequence of early morning shootings that have left at least one man in critical condition. According to WTHR, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) responded to the first incident around 12:30 a.m. on Tuesday on the 4000 block of Independence Drive, where they discovered the victim suffering from a gunshot wound. The man was swiftly transported to a hospital where he remains in critical condition.
A person with a gunshot wound independently made their way to Community Hospital South. While the condition of this individual has yet to be disclosed, IMPD is actively investigating the connection between this case and the prior shooting, as noted by CBS4Indy.
A separate incident occurred roughly 40 minutes later and a few miles away, adding to a chaotic night for local law enforcement. Officers were dispatched to 329 North Denny Street at around 1:10 a.m., where another male was found with gunshot wounds. The victim, reportedly meeting a woman in an alley to "buy something," fell prey to an apparent robbery attempt that led to gunfire, according to information obtained by FOX59.
IMPD has been investigating the incidents, searching for evidence, and clarifying details based on victim accounts and new leads. Authorities are asking the public for help and encourage anyone with information to come forward.
