The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department is currently investigating a fatal shooting that took place at the Red Roof Inn on the city’s southwest side, as confirmed by officers who were dispatched to the scene at 2631 S. Lynhurst Drive following a shooting report around 9 p.m. last Wednesday. According to WISHTV, officers found a woman suffering from a gunshot wound and she was pronounced dead at the crime scene.
Further details from the Marion County Coroner's Office identified the victim as 23-year-old Chasidy Hahn and ruled her death a homicide. According to Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Captain Don Weilhamer, the incident escalated from a disturbance in the hotel parking lot, leading to shots being fired. "What we've been able to find out so is far is there was some type of disturbance in the parking lot and then shots fired rang out," he stated in a report obtained by WTHR.
As the investigation continues, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department has not disclosed whether the shooting occurred inside or outside the hotel, and no suspects have been publicly identified. Detectives are seeking video surveillance from the Red Roof Inn to clarify the events leading to Chasidy Hahn's death. In a related but separate incident, officers responded to a shooting in the 700 block of Hiatt Street on the city’s near west side, where they found another person who had been shot; this individual was last reported to be awake and breathing.
