
On Monday, Chicago Police announced the arrest of 49-year-old Jarryl Williams of the 6300 block of S. Paulina St., Chicago, Illinois, in connection with a shooting incident that left a 37-year-old female critically injured earlier this year. According to the Chicago Police Department's press release, Williams faces one felony count of aggravated battery/discharge of a firearm, along with another for being an armed habitual criminal.
Williams was taken into custody on October 28, 2024, shortly after 7 p.m., near the 1600 block of W. 63rd St. Officers were able to positively identify him as the individual who, five months prior on May 15, allegedly shot and critically wounded the victim on the 6300 block of S. Marshfield Ave. Authorities have yet to publicly divulge any motive behind the incident. Williams is now slated to appear for a detention hearing at the courthouse located at 2600 S. California, Chicago.
The incident at hand occurred within the bounds of Chicago's 7th District at approximately 7:21 p.m. The victim, whose identity has not been released, was located and provided with medical attention following the shooting. The Chicago Police's swift response and subsequent investigation have culminated in the apprehension of Williams, whose criminal charges have brought him before the court system once again.
