A 42-year-old homeless man, Victor Johnson, received a sentence totaling 87 years in prison after a series of violent assaults on women in downtown Indianapolis dating back to 2020. According to WISH-TV, the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office stated that Johnson was convicted of several offenses including attempted murder and attempted rape, the sentencing took place following Johnson’s conviction across multiple charges spanning from attempted murder, attempted rape, to various degrees of battery and criminal confinement.
Johnson, who was charged with 22 counts, pleaded guilty to 11 which included the brutal attacks that he carried out using a steak knife over two days near the Cultural Trail, the attacks commenced with Johnson making unwarranted advances toward his victims, including requests for hugs and propositions for illicit encounters, and after such advances were rebuffed, he escalated to violence as detailed in FOX59's reporting; “I just want to spend fifteen minutes with you,” he told one of the victims before stabbing her multiple times and in an isolated event at Veterans Memorial Plaza, one of the women resting on a blanket was attacked by Johnson.
