
A shooting on September 19 in Castleton has changed from a suspected accident to a homicide investigation after a juvenile victim died. According to FOX59, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department responded to the shooting at the 7500 block of Ivywood Circle around 7:45 p.m.
The officers discovered a juvenile with gunshot wounds inside a residence. Originally thought to possibly be self-inflicted, the wounds were later determined to be caused by another, as per the ongoing investigation. Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Detectives have spoken with a “person of interest and will be working with the (Marion County Prosecutor’s Office on any charging decisions,” the department stated, as reported by FOX59.
A 16-year-old male was arrested on the night of the shooting for drug and firearm possession, but it's not clear if he is involved in the incident. As stated by WISHTV, the victim was initially found awake and breathing but later died from his injuries at a local hospital.
Authorities have not yet officially released the name of the deceased. The exact manner and cause of death will be determined by the Marion County Coroner’s Office.
