A stabbing incident occurred at the Mission Valley Trolley Station platform at approximately 8:31 PM last night, as reported by the San Diego Police Department. The confrontation involved a 31-year-old male victim and a suspect described as a White/Hispanic male who was 30 years old.
The altercation was sparked by the suspect's anger towards the victim, who was seemingly doing nothing more than sitting next to a handicapped person. According to the San Diego Police Department Watch Commander, Woodell, via the City of San Diego, the suspect brandished what is believed to be a folding knife and injured the victim with stab wounds to the left rib cage and thigh. The suspect then fled the scene and, as of now, remains at large. Fleeing the scene before authorities arrived, the suspect still has not been apprehended.
Following the assault, the victim received prompt medical attention and was transported to a local hospital. It has been reported that while the injuries sustained are serious, they are not believed to be life-threatening at this time.
The San Diego Police Department is actively searching for the assailant and is calling on the public for assistance. Anyone with information that might lead to the capture and conviction of the suspect is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477. As the victim recovers in the hospital, authorities remain hopeful that witnesses will come forward to aid in the investigation.
