León mentioned that creating Wade's statue involved using 700 to 800 pounds of clay and a strong support system, reflecting their dedication to the project. Dwyane Wade was closely involved in the process, making sure the statue accurately represented him, even pointing out small details.
There's a sense of mystery around the statue, as the sculptors have added personal touches for Wade, but they are keeping the details secret to maintain the surprise. Amrany hinted that the statue has interesting intricacies to discover, suggesting fans should "look at the fingernails," but he didn't explain what this means, as per WSVN.
In an interview with the Miami Herald, Wade shared his pride and gratitude for Miami, stating, "It’s home. It will always be home. I always feel it. There’s no feeling like Miami for me. I spent so much of my life here, I know so many crevices and corners of Miami. I know so many people here. So I love coming back. There’s no feeling like coming back here."
The unveiling event will start at 4 p.m. Tickets are complimentary, but fans need to secure their spot ahead of time.
