A Muncie man, Devin X. Myers, age 30, has been convicted on three counts of murder and a host of other felony charges in connection with a fatal home invasion that occurred in July 2022. As reported by FOX59, Myers was found guilty of the murders of 69-year-old Malcolm Perdue, 51-year-old Kyndra Swift, and 19-year-old Kyler Ryan Musick.
In addition to the murder counts, Myers faces armed robbery, criminal confinement, obstruction of justice, and a conspiracy charge to commit robbery resulting in serious bodily injury. During the trial, Myers confessed to using a firearm during the murders, a detail that is expected to further enhance his sentencing. He also admitted to being a habitual offender with previous charges of battery with a deadly weapon and armed robbery. According to WISH-TV, the Delaware County Prosecutor's Office described Myers as "a very dangerous predator" who "viciously executed three people from the same family."
The conviction stemmed from a violent episode where Myers and his accomplice, Daniel L. Jones, were said to have committed an armed robbery at a home on South Liberty Street in Muncie, following which Perdue and Swift were discovered dead with gunshot wounds. Musick's body was found the following day near a local reservoir. Following the verdict, Prosecutor Eric M. Hoffman expressed his hope that Myers would receive a life sentence, with the sentencing date set for December 20, as noted in a statement obtained by The Star Press.
Compounding his legal troubles, while in detention at the Delaware County Jail, Myers allegedly possessed a deadly weapon and threatened officers, though the jury did not convict him on these charges. Myers dismissively admitted to these allegations, seeing them potentially contributing to an already grave slate of convictions. The trial of Daniel L. Jones, also implicated in the triple homicide, is scheduled to commence on November 18.
