West Precinct patrol officers responded swiftly to calls of vehicle break-ins in an apartment complex on McCrory Lane, leading to the detention of three teenagers and the seizure of a trio of firearms, authorities confirmed.
Upon receiving a detailed suspect and vehicle description from a vigilant witness, the police discovered several vehicles had been compromised and, shortly thereafter, identified and pursued the suspect's silver Toyota; the driver, 19-year-old Abdalla Abdikadir, attempted evasion, initiating a chase that culminated with spike strips halting his escape near the exit of the complex and resulted in his vehicle pulling off to the side of I-40 East where Abdikadir and a 16-year-old male were detained while a second passenger, 18-year-old Hussein Hassan, attempted to abscond on foot but was swiftly apprehended.
Two of the recovered guns had been reported stolen: one from a robbery on September 15, where the victim, having been accosted by three masked individuals as he rested in his car, was divested of his weapon, and the second, taken from a car outside a Thompson Lane residence on the same date, according to a statement obtained by the Nashville Police Department.
Hassan now faces multiple charges including eight counts of burglary of a motor vehicle, two counts of possession of a stolen firearm, and evading arrest, his bond set at $92,000, Abdikadir faces similar charges plus evading arrest by motor vehicle with a bond at $47,500, and the juvenile's charges are being processed through Juvenile Court for gun possession during the commission of a felony, juvenile handgun possession, and furthermore, burglary of a motor vehicle.
Photographs of the accused Hassan and Abdikadir are being withheld for the time being as they may be implicated in pending lineups linked to similar criminal activities in the area; this cautious approach aims to preserve the integrity of subsequent identification procedures and ongoing investigations.
