The Oakland Police Department has shut down an illegal casino in operation after community members raised the alarm, resulting in multiple arrests and the recovery of firearms, narcotics, and stolen vehicles. The crackdown, which took place in the 1400 block of 17th Avenue last Thursday, underscores the city's ongoing battle against unauthorized gambling dens known to foster criminal activities and degrade neighborhood safety.
In a move prompted by numerous complaints from residents, OPD's Special Resources Section (SRS) West and VICE Unit collaborated to execute a search warrant at the targeted establishment, as communicated through a social media post by the Oakland Police Department. The seized items included three firearms, ammunition, an undisclosed amount of case, various narcotics, and several illegal casino gaming machines. Additionally, officers discovered and towed multiple stolen vehicles found near the property.
