A tragic incident unfolded in Montgomery County yesterday evening when a collision between a semi truck and a Honda CRV claimed a life and left another person injured. FOX 59 reported that the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office along with Indiana State Police attended to the crash that occurred around 6 p.m. on U.S. Highway 231, north of State Road 234.
Findings from the preliminary investigation suggest that the driver of a 2006 Freightliner semi was traveling north on the highway as the Honda, driving on State Road 234, intruded upon its path. The collision was seemingly inevitable as the vehicles collided and came to rest on the west side of the highway, both vehicles were involved in the crash WISH-TV notes.
Authorities confirmed the death of a passenger in the Honda, who was pronounced dead at the scene. The decedent's identity has been withheld, pending family notification, a common procedure in such dire circumstances. The driver of the Honda sustained injuries and was airlifted to an Indianapolis hospital; however, their status remains uncertain as of this writing.
The driver of the semi, on the other hand, was not injured during the crash. The Indiana State Police are continuing their investigation into the specific details surrounding the incident, as stated in the coverage by WTHR.
