The involved male pedestrian, whose identity has not yet been released, was reportedly standing in the eastbound lanes when the bus, also traveling eastbound, fatally collided with him, the Fremont Police Department indicated. It appears that the pedestrian was subsequently hit by additional vehicles, further compounding the tragedy.
Authorities have stated that drug or alcohol impairment does not appear to be a factor in the accident. The bus drivers and other vehicles involved have stayed to assist in the investigation.
