
On Thursday, a pedestrian was struck and killed by a passenger bus on Mission Boulevard in Fremont. The collision, which occurred near the intersection with Warm Springs Boulevard around 5:50 a.m., resulted in the immediate response of law enforcement and the eventual closure of the area to traffic during the preliminary investigation, as confirmed by a press release from the Fremont Police Department.

The involved male pedestrian, whose identity has not yet been released, was reportedly standing in the eastbound lanes when the bus, also traveling eastbound, fatally collided with him, the Fremont Police Department indicated. It appears that the pedestrian was subsequently hit by additional vehicles, further compounding the tragedy.
Authorities have stated that drug or alcohol impairment does not appear to be a factor in the accident. The bus drivers and other vehicles involved have stayed to assist in the investigation. Meanwhile, the Alameda County Coroner's Office took charge of the situation involving the deceased at the scene.
This incident marks the ninth fatal traffic collision in Fremont for the year 2024, with fatalities distributed across various locations throughout the city, five on city roadways, three on State Routes, and one on private property.
