The soon-to-open Rockwood Driver Services Center is set to unveil its modernized features following a period of renovation begun last September. As announced by the Department of Safety and Homeland Security, the center, situated at 1070 North Gateway Ave., closed for updates on Sept. 11 and will welcome visitors once again starting Tuesday, Nov. 5. These improvements come as a bid to enhance the customer experience and streamline department processes.
Patrons of the center can fully expect resumption of regular business hours, which are from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Central Monday through Friday. The revamped surroundings will boast not only cosmetic changes like new furniture and fresh paint but also practical upgrades including advanced credentialing equipment and versatile self-service kiosks, as per the Department of Safety and Homeland Security.
These state-of-the-art kiosks are a significant highlight, functioning to accelerate many of the Driver Services transactions that would otherwise require traditional assistance. As reported by the Department of Safety and Homeland Security official announcement, services available through these kiosks cover a broad spectrum from renewing or replacing licenses and IDs to paying reinstatement fees.
Moreover, the new kiosks, capable of performing a quick license reissue post-reinstatement, are also equipped to handle payments through various modern methods such as Apple Pay, Google Pay, or a credit or debit card. Their sleek design is complementary to the overall modernization of the center, while they imbue the space with a sense of technological empowerment for, Tennessee's motorists.
