A man, now identified as Roozbehi Abdolrasool, faces allegations of a stabbing incident that left another 55-year-old man in critical condition, the Salt Lake City Police Department reported. The altercation, which unfolded in the early hours of October 18, has brought Abdolrasool into custody under a charge of aggravated assault, resulting in serious bodily injury, according to the Salt Lake City Police Department.
The scene of the crime was near 200 North 2200 West, where SLCPD’s Airport Patrol Division officers found the victim with life-threatening knife wounds. Officers and paramedics performed life-saving measures before the individual was rushed to the hospital. It appears the conflict was not random but a continuation of a dispute between two acquaintances, the Police Department added.
As the victim remains hospitalized in stable yet critical condition, detective work led to Roozbehi Abdolrasool's arrest on the morning of October 21. Found driving near Gertie Avenue and Redwood Road, Abdolrasool was detained without incident and has since been booked into the Salt Lake County Metro Jail.
Underlining the preliminary nature of their findings, the Salt Lake City Police Department communicates that as investigations carry forward, narratives may shift. They also clarify, that despite the serious allegations, Abdolrasool upholds the presumption of innocence until possibly proven guilty in a court of law, an assurance of due process that forms the bedrock of the judicial system.
