According to the Salt Lake City Police Department, responding officers discovered two heavily damaged vehicles obstructing the thoroughfare, with the injured man found inside one of the cars. Early findings suggest that he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision.
Paramedics rushed the victim to a local hospital, where he remains in critical condition. Preliminary investigations appear to indicate that the man may have run a red light while traveling east on 400 South, only to violently collide with another car proceeding north on State Street.
