In the early hours of Friday morning, a police pursuit on Indianapolis' northwest side ended with three minors in custody, connected to several armed robberies. A vehicle thought to be involved in the crimes was located using License Plate Reader technology and community input, according to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD). In a statement obtained by WTHR, an IMPD spokesperson stated, "with the assistance and cooperation of victims, community members, and the use of License Plate Reader (LPR) technology," officers were able to swiftly identify and attempt to stop the suspects.

Following the initial identification, the police, alongside Speedway police, attempted to stop the car around 6 a.m., which only led the suspects to rapidly flee, sparking off a chase. During this pursuit, the suspects' vehicle collided with another car at West 38th Street and Georgetown Road. The collision forced responders to extricate the driver of the second car, who, according to WRTV, was then transported to the hospital with only minor injuries.

The chaotic chase did not come to an immediate halt; the suspects' car crashed again in the 3900 block of Georgetown Road. The trio of suspects tried to escape on foot, but two were quickly apprehended by officers on the scene. IMPD deployed a drone and a K9 unit to track down and locate the third juvenile, as reported by FOX59. At the scene, authorities recovered at least one firearm.

The incident significantly increased police presence at the scene near 38th Street and Georgetown Road. After the entire affair, the three juveniles to were transported a local hospital to be rigorously checked out following the crash. Once they are cleared, they will be taken to the IMPD Robbery Office for interviews. The IMPD Aviation and K9 Units, as well as officers and Robbery Detectives, are continuing to canvas the area for additional evidence. The situation remains under active investigation, as the community reckons with the implications of the events that unfolded. No further information about the armed robberies has been released at this time.
