Earlier today, disturbances occurred on the streets of downtown Indianapolis, resulting in one death and one injured. Two individuals were caught in a shootout in the 900 block of Indiana Avenue, near Indiana University's campus, WTHR reports. The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department responded to reports of gunshots to find two victims with gunshot wounds.
The incident, which IMPD described as a "running gun battle," resulted in one individual being pronounced dead after transportation to a local hospital and another in stable condition. According to a Taco Bell employee, the restaurant sustained damage during the shootout, but no employees or customers were harmed. During the incident, shell casings littered the street and several windows of the fast-food restaurant were blown out, according to FOX59.
Authorities have been on the hunt for the second vehicle involved in the brutal exchange near Taco Bell, which had fled the scene. A description of the vehicle or the suspect has yet-to-be provided by officials.
