
The Utah Hockey Club faced another tough game on their home ice, sliding to a 5-1 defeat against the Colorado Avalanche at the Delta Center on Thursday. After two initial wins at home, Utah's recent performance has veered off course, marking their second consecutive loss at home, and their fourth loss in the last five games, which includes an overtime defeat. According to ABC4, Avalanche's Casey Mittelstadt made significant contributions to the game with a goal and two assists.
The Avalanche who, after a slow start to the season, appear to be picking up momentum with their fourth consecutive win. Superstars Cale Makar and Nathan MacKinnon continued to impress, as both extended their season-opening point streak to eight games. Makar and MacKinnon boast 15 points (three goals, 12 assists), and 13 points (three goals, 10 assists) respectively, as ABC4 reports.
While the scoreboard reflected a dreary outcome for Utah HC, not all was gloomy in the Delta Center. "Utah HC fans didn’t have a ton to cheer for on Thursday, but Maveric Lamoureux was a definite bright spot," according to Deseret News. The 20-year-old defenseman, making his NHL debut, had almost 19 minutes on the ice and steered clear of fault for any goals against, a noteworthy start for the young player's career.
Despite their current underwhelming performance Utah HC, is not slowing down. With games beckoning on the horizon, the team looks ahead to their next challenge, a road encounter with the Los Angeles Kings. After their stint in Los Angeles, Utah HC will have a chance to regroup as they come back home to face the San Jose Sharks and then the Calgary Flames.
