In a tragic occurrence, a 17-year-old boy was shot and tragically killed in the early hours of Friday in the East Garfield Park neighborhood of Chicago's West Side. Chicago Sun-Times reports that the incident happened around 2:20 a.m. outside in the 2800 block of West Polk Street, where the teenager was standing when a black vehicle drove up and an occupant opened fire, resulting in multiple gunshot wounds to his body.
Investigations are underway, but so far, Area 4 detectives have yet to make any arrests in connection with the shooting, as detailed by the Chicago Sun-Times. It was not immediately clear what led up to the shooting or if police had identified a possible motive.
Another report, from CBS News Chicago, echoed the account of the incident, adding that after the shots were fired, the teen was taken with urgency to UIC Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
