Starting next week, a new Automated External Defibrillator (AED) station will be installed at Carmel’s Monon Greenway Rohrer Road Trailhead. The City of Carmel will unveil the station on Tuesday, at 11:30 a.m. during a ribbon-cutting ceremony. This is part of an effort to improve public safety along the city's trail network, according to the City of Carmel.

The ceremony will add an important piece to the community's emergency infrastructure. The AED could save lives by delivering a shock to people in cardiac arrest. Local officials, including Carmel City Councilor Jeff Worrell, and representatives from Orangetheory Fitness and Bolt for the Heart, who funded the installation, will attend the event. There are also plans to expand the number of AED stations across Carmel’s trails and parks over time.

Located at the intersection of community well-being and technological advancement, AED devices are simple yet sophisticated tools in the hands of those who witness cardiac emergencies unfold in real time. The device operates by analyzing the heart's rhythm and determining if an electrical shock is necessary to help establish an effective heartbeat.

The partnership behind this new safety feature reflects a shared commitment to health and preparedness. Orangetheory Fitness and Bolt for the Heart are focused not just on fitness, but also on protecting people during emergencies.
