Residents in the Avondale and Belmont Gardens areas are on high alert following a series of reported burglaries. The Chicago Police Department has notified the public of the incidents that have taken place, primarily in the 17th District (Albany Park) and the 25th District (Grand Central). As reported by the Chicago Police Department, two robberies involving unknown male offenders occurred in close succession on the evening of October 15, 2024.
Providing further details on the robberies, the offenders, described as male and aged between 25-30, used a white SUV to reach their targets. They forcefully demanded valuables, robbing the victims of money and cellular phones before making their escape. The specific locations targeted were the 3200 block of N Milwaukee Ave and the 4400 block of W George St.
The police are now urging the community to remain vigilant and take precautionary measures. Among these suggestions, residents should heighten their awareness of suspicious individuals in the area. Officials advise against engaging with potential criminals, stating, "Do not try to rationalize or confront offenders, it could lead to possible injury." These safety tips are part of the effort to mitigate the chances of future encounters with burglars until they are apprehended.
To assist law enforcement, the community is encouraged to ensure their surveillance systems are operational. Immediate reporting of any suspicious activity can be critical. The Chicago Police Department emphatically instructs the public saying, "Call 911 immediately if you are a victim or witness to a crime and provide a detailed description of the offender(s) and involved vehicles." The sharing of such information could prove invaluable in preventing further incidents and aiding in the capture of the responsible parties.
