
The Chicago Police Department has issued a community alert after a girl was sexually abused in the West Garfield Park neighborhood, an incident stirring warranted concern amongst local residents. The crime, detailed as aggravated criminal sexual abuse, occurred in the Austin District and the PD is now soliciting the public’s help in identifying the perpetrator.
Authorities report that the offense took place on November 21, 2024, approximately at 12:45 a.m. on the 300 block of S. Kilpatrick Avenue, where a 13-year-old female was awakened by an intruder in her home, the intruder was an unknown male who, after groping the victim while armed with a knife, hastily fled the site on a rental bicycle. The Chicago Police have disseminated a description of the suspect described as a black male, approximately 6 feet tall with a slim build and clean-shaven, last seen clothed in a black hooded sweatshirt, green jacket, and black hat as well as sporting a surgical mask and a blue rubber glove on his right hand.
The Department urges the community to be vigilant and requests anyone with relevant information or who may have observed suspicious activity to contact law enforcement immediately. Chicago PD emphasizes that physical details such as scars, limps or acne may be crucial in identifying the offender while advising against engaging in pursuit in such instances for safety reasons.
