The victim, whose state is now reported as serious, was urgently taken to a local hospital before being transferred to an Indianapolis hospital for advanced care.
Authorities have identified the person of interest in this case as Lucio Contreras. According to information obtained by WTHR, Contreras may be escaping the scene in a silver Chevrolet Malibu, distinguishable by a broken right taillight. It's believed, he could be armed and his current trajectory may be toward Gary, Indiana. The Kokomo Police Department is urging the public to exercise caution and report any relevant information.
