Heading into the Thanksgiving holiday, Miami residents and visitors will need to adjust their travel plans as Miami-Dade Transit announces changes in service for the holiday. According to a release from the Miami-Dade County government, on Thanksgiving Day, November 28, public transportation services provided by the Department of Transportation and Public Works (DTPW) will follow a Sunday schedule.
Services including the Metrobus, Metrorail, and Metromover, as well as MetroConnect will operate on a reduced schedule. However, the MetroLink will not be in service during the holiday. The following day, Friday, November 29, commuters can expect a return to the normal weekday transit schedule for all Miami-Dade Transit services.
While administrative, Customer Service, and Special Transportation (STS) offices will also be closed on Thanksgiving Day, STS customers can still make or cancel reservations by calling (305-871-1111). The closure does not extend to online services, with options like EASY Card purchases and recharges remaining accessible through the Transit Store or various mobile apps including Go-Miami Dade, Token Transit, and the Transit App, as per Miami-Dade County government.
For those needing other services such as signing up for transit alerts, following DTPW on social media, or subscribing to the Mobility 305 newsletter for updates, special events, and other perks remain available online. Additionally, customers can report lost items or apply for a Golden Passport EASY Card through the DTPW’s website, ensuring riders stay connected and informed even as the offices physically close for the day.
