Plainfield, Indiana is currently the focus of a serious investigation into alleged human trafficking and prostitution activities, which has seen local spas come under scrutiny. As WRTV reported, three establishments—Main St. Spa, Li Ly Spa, and Luna Spa—were raided by Plainfield Police Department officers in a search operation prompted by community complaints. The businesses are being investigated for potentially engaging in corruption, promoting prostitution, and involvement in human trafficking.
During the searches that took place on Monday, according to WTHR, "individuals were safely removed from these locations and their immediate needs are being addressed." This action forms part of a broader strategy to not only uphold the law but to also provide support and care for the victims with a continuum of care provided by victim advocates.
Plainfield Police Chief Kyle Prewitt underscored the gravity and aims of the investigation, stating, "Our focus is not just on enforcing the law but also on ensuring that survivors are supported and treated with the utmost respect and care." Despite the seriousness of the allegations, it is yet to be confirmed whether any arrests have been made in connection with the case, as per WTHR.
The inter-agency operation involved collaboration with Brownsburg Police Department, Battle Ground Police Department, Indiana State Police, and the Indiana Department of Revenue. Survivors of human sexual trafficking found during the search warrants, they are currently receiving assistance and support from advocates, with the departments affirming their commitment to protect the vulnerable and prosecute those exploiting them, as per FOX59.
