In response to rising drug dealing in Downtown and Old Town Portland, local law enforcement made several arrests following a focused operation. On Wednesday, a bike squad from the Portland Police Central Precinct targeted the area around Southwest 13th Avenue and Southwest Yamhill Street, which has seen an increase in drug-related activity.
According to Portland Police Bureau website, the operation resulted in the arrest of eight individuals, with two offered the chance for rehabilitation instead of facing the criminal justice system. Officers seized a significant amount of narcotics, including 64.5g of fentanyl, along with $2,395 in cash and three firearms.
This operation is part of Portland's ongoing effort to combat drug distribution and substance abuse. The Portland Police Central Precinct Bike Squad's action targeted drug activity in the area. The broader issue of addressing the drug crisis continues to involve balancing law enforcement with support for addiction services.
