A joint task force led by the Utah Attorney General's Office, with assistance from multiple law enforcement agencies, recently wrapped up an operation geared towards disrupting human trafficking networks in Washington County. The sting operation, which unfolded on November 14, led to three men being taken into custody on charges related to soliciting sex and drug distribution, as reported by the Utah Attorney General's Office.
To get ahead of the criminal activities associated with human trafficking, the SECURE Strike Force worked closely with the Washington County Drug Task Force. Offering a hand to the potential victims during the operation, two adult female commercial sex workers were offered victim services and expressed interest in accepting help. After being provided with these resources, they were released on the scene.
The initiative continued with further efforts. On the eve of the operation, the Utah Attorney General’s Office conducted a comprehensive training session for a diverse group of professionals, including prosecutors and victim advocates. This session, held on November 13, aimed to improve techniques for investigating and prosecuting human trafficking cases. Additionally, it provided valuable insights on how to better support victims of such exploitation.
