
The Utah Department of Public Safety has deactivated an AMBER Alert issued for a 12-year-old girl from Bountiful after a brief, intensive search. The alert was originally set in motion this morning following concerns of a non-family abduction near 440 West and 200 North in Bountiful. According to KUTV, the suspect was identified as 22-year-old Juan Martinez Brito, believed to be driving a white 2012 Chevrolet Camaro SS with Utah license plate Y360SZ and a distinctive black hood.
The Bountiful Police Department had engaged the public in their efforts to locate the girl, described as wearing a yellow shirt with a drawing of a woman's face, black shorts, and sandals, as reported by KSL Newsradio. Standing 5 feet tall and weighing around 160 pounds, she has brown hair and brown eyes. A second suspect, Erasmo Martinez, was also listed by police, described as 5 feet 2 inches tall, weighing roughly 135 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.
The AMBER Alert, activated at approximately 7:50 a.m., was canceled nearly a half-hour later. Details surrounding the resolution of the situation have not been publicly disclosed. As of the alert cancellation, law enforcement has not provided further information on the circumstances leading to the girl's disappearance or the conditions of her recovery.
