
Two women found themselves at the center of violence early Friday in Chicago's Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood, resulting in one being hospitalized and the other in custody. The Chicago Police Department reported that the altercation between the two, aged 35 and 37, began as a verbal argument on the 7000 block of South Eberhart Avenue around 1 a.m. According to the Chicago Sun-Times, the disagreement then escalated to physical violence.
The situation took a turn when the 37-year-old woman allegedly pulled out a gun and proceeded to quickly shoot the other woman in her legs. Following the incident, the 35-year-old victim was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center and is reported to be in fair condition. A firearm was retrieved from the scene by the authorities, indicating the seriousness of the altercation. According to the FOX 32 Chicago report, the woman who allegedly discharged the weapon has been taken into custody with charges pending.
Detectives from Area One are actively investigating the shooting, aiming to piece together the events that led up to the confrontation.
