An Anderson community is grappling with the aftermath of a deadly shooting that took place late Saturday night. FOX59 reports that Anderson Police Department (APD) officers discovered a 28-year-old man with gunshot wounds upon arriving at an apartment complex on the 800 block of 53rd Street shortly before midnight. Despite being rushed to a local hospital in serious condition, the man succumbed to his injuries.
The shooting, according to preliminary findings, was sparked by an altercation among several individuals within the apartment complex. The APD has since arrested two suspects and detained multiple others following a warrant execution by their SWAT team in the 3500 block of Columbus Avenue, as detailed by an APD press release. The exact number of suspects and persons of interest APD is still pursuing remains uncertain at this time.
In a statement gathered by WRTV, police informed that the two individuals arrested in connection with the shooting are currently being held at the Madison County Jail. Active investigative efforts continue as additional potential participants in the incident are being sought by detectives.
