Chef Michelle Bernstein, alongside her husband David Martinez, is bringing back a piece of Miami's culinary history with the reopening of the Spanish restaurant Sra. Martinez. The restaurant originally operated from 2008 to 2012 in the Miami Design District and is now setting roots in Coral Gables, at 2325 Galiano Streeta, according to the Miami New Times.
After a 12-year break, Sra. Martinez has returned, taking over the former Open Stage Club space. The new location spans over 4,000 square feet, with a larger dining room, patio, and a stage for live music. Chef Andrew Gilbert, who previously worked at the original Sra. Martinez and The Seven Dials, brings back classic dishes along with his own creations, as per the Miami Herald.
Sra. Martinez blends Spanish cuisine with European and North African influences. The menu features updated classics like carbonara croquetas with cured egg yolk and Pecorino, as well as new dishes such as oxtail paella with bone marrow and roasted whole fish with red and green chermoulas.
Bernstein and Martinez are committed to reviving their guests' favorable memories from a decade ago while catering to the evolution of their own culinary journey.
