After a series of violent carjackings and shootings that terrorized the North Side of Chicago in April 2018, Earrious Moore, 30, has been sentenced to over 14 years in prison, court records show. The sentencing, detailed in a Chicago Sun-Times report, comes after Moore's guilty plea to two counts of carjacking, one count of attempted carjacking, as well as using, carrying, and brandishing a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence.

On the fateful day of April 26, 2018, Moore's rampage began with him shooting his brother. He then proceeded to commandeer a Jeep Patriot at gunpoint and later that evening, attempted to take a Jaguar XF, and a Ford Escape, amongst other vehicles, according to CBS News. Three individuals suffered gunshot wounds during the spree, one being his brother, another a 37-year-old man in a Nissan Maxima, and the third, an 84-year-old man in a Mercedes Benz who was shot in the back.

Moore's confrontational tactics included brandishing a firearm and unnecessarily extreme demands, like ordering victims to leave their cellphones behind. “Get the f— out of the car and give me everything you got, drop your cellphones,” Moore reportedly ordered the occupants of the Jeep Patriot, as outlined in court documents obtained by the Chicago Sun-Times. His aggressive approach culminated in a crash when Moore rammed the stolen Jaguar into several parked cars on North Halsted Street.

However, not all attempts at vehicular theft were successful for Moore, in one instance, the driver of a Nissan Maxima resisted exiting the vehicle, resulting in Moore firing and hitting the driver in the arm. In arguably, the most egregious act, an 84-year-old driver was shot in the back while fleeing an attempted carjacking on DuSable Lake Shore Drive, the incident detailed in documents cited by CBS News.

The chaotic spree ended with Moore's arrest in the lobby of a Gold Coast building. Prior to these crimes, Moore had a criminal history that included a year in prison for assault in 2012 and 18 months of supervision for domestic assault in 2017.
