
The Chicago Police Department has released a community alert to warn residents of the 10th District, particularly in the Little Village neighborhood, about a reported incident of criminal sexual abuse. The alert details an assault that took place on October 20, 2024, at around 8:30 p.m. A woman, while on the 2600 block of S. Karlov Ave, was approached by a man who then attempted to sexually abuse her.
Described as a Hispanic male between the ages of 55 and 59, approximately 5'08 to 5'09 in height, the assailant was seen wearing an orange long-sleeve top with dark-colored jeans at the time of the assault. Police are now seeking the community's assistance in identifying and apprehending the subject who, as per the victim's account, showed blatant disregard for her safety and bodily autonomy.
In response to the incident, Chicago Police have issued a series of precautions recommending that individuals should always be aware of their surroundings. Among the advice given, walking in pairs or groups as well as reporting any suspicious activity immediately to the police by dialing 9-1-1 was included. Additionally, it was emphasized that under no circumstances should one pursue a fleeing assailant, but rather provide all available information to the police.
