The Clark County Coroner's Office has named Fernando Jimenez-Jimenez, 31, as the second victim of a tragic wrong-way collision on Interstate 15 that occurred last week, which also claimed the life of an off-duty Las Vegas Metropolitan police officer. As reported by News 3LV, Jimenez-Jimenez died from blunt force injuries in the accident ruled as unintentional.
The crash took place around 12:30 a.m. on Thursday near the Valley of Fire State Park, where Colton Pulsipher, a 29-year-old Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department officer, lost his life while heading home after completing his shift, leaving behind his wife and three young children. Driving home in his private vehicle, Pulsipher was struck by the wrong-way driver, as noted by the 8 News Now.
Nevada State Police disclosed that the crash involved multiple vehicles and a wrong-way driver traveling south on the northbound side of I-15. Additionally, a woman sustained non-life-threatening injuries during the incident and was transported to a Las Vegas hospital for treatment. The multi-vehicle accident led to the closure of all northbound lanes on the interstate near Mile Marker 75, with drivers redirected through alternate routes.
Services to honor Officer Pulsipher are scheduled on Wednesday, December 18, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Moapa Chapel, according to his obituary. The ongoing investigation by the authorities aims to provide clarity on the events leading up to the crash, as confirmed by Hoodline.
