
The Chicago Police Department has issued a community alert regarding a troubling incident of child luring that occurred in the city's North Lawndale neighborhood. According to the alert, a young child was approached by a man while on a trip to the grocery store near the intersection of 1100 S Kedzie Ave and 3200 W Roosevelt Rd. During this encounter, which took place yesterday, the suspect, a male white Hispanic man in his 30s or 40s, attempted to lure the child by asking to exchange phone numbers. The alert was published on the Chicago Police Department's website.
The suspect, described as wearing a black winter skull cap, gray beard and goatee, thin mustache, clear framed glasses, and a black winter coat, reportedly told the victim he would wait for them in the parking lot. Upon entering the grocery store, the child called their mother, who arrived and confronted the man, leading him to drive off northbound on Kedzie Ave. The offender's vehicle was identified as a 2019 Black Jeep Cherokee.
The Chicago Police Department is actively investigating the incident and has encouraged anyone with information to come forward.
The police department is asking for the public's assistance in locating the suspect, emphasizing the critical role locals play in maintaining safety within the community.
