
Early Sunday morning, a pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle on the Edens Expressway near Lincolnwood, leading to a complete closure of the northbound lanes. The incident occurred just before 6:30 a.m. at the I-94 Touhy Avenue intersection, as reported by NBC Chicago. Illinois State Police were quick to respond to the scene following the incident.
Upon arrival, they discovered that the pedestrian had already succumbed to their injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The northbound side of the highway was subsequently closed, with traffic being diverted onto Peterson Street. As per the latest updates, no information regarding the identity of the pedestrian or the circumstances behind the collision could immediately be released.
In the aftermath of the tragedy, an investigation has been launched to determine the events leading up to the fatal crash. As a result, northbound I-94 continues to remain closed to facilitate this process. Consequentially, motorists have been advised to seek alternative routes until further notice.
