A woman wielding a knife was fatally shot by a Lauderhill police officer, an incident that ended in her death, confirmed by police. According to WSVN, officers arrived at 4045 NW 16th St. this afternoon responding to a call that provided only a first name and location before disconnecting.
Details released by the police noted the officer reported a woman armed with a knife at the scene, the situation quickly escalated and he discharged his firearm, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) has begun an investigation into the shooting which is standard protocol. The identity of the woman has not been released as of yet, NBC Miami reported the time of the officer's arrival to be approximately 12:32 p.m., with the incident unfolding shortly thereafter.
This fatal encounter resulted in the woman being transported to Broward Health Medical Center in critical condition, she was pronounced deceased at the facility. Authorities have encouraged the public to step forward with any information they might hold.
