
A man is fighting for his life after being shot in what appears to be a botched robbery in Southwest Miami-Dade County, authorities said Thursday. The shooting, which occurred around 11 p.m. at the intersection of 119th Avenue and SW 220th Street, was detected by a ShotSpotter alert, according to NBC Miami.
When police first arrived, the victim told them the suspect tried to steal his bag before shooting him, as per the NBC Miami report. Following the shooting, the victim was promptly transported by Miami Dade Fire Rescue to Jackson South Medical Center, where he remains in critical condition.
Local authorities have provided a general description of the suspect, who was last seen wearing an orange shirt and pants and fleeing on an orange scooter. The investigation is in its early stages, with witnesses suggesting the suspect may have thrown his gun into a nearby drain, according to WSVN.
Authorities have not yet released the victim's identity or additional details about the suspect in this violent incident. The case remains under investigation, with no arrests made so far.
