The quiet flow of the Tippecanoe River in Carroll County was disrupted by a grim discovery yesterday morning when the body of a 23-year-old man was found. According to FOX59, Indiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR) officials were called to the 6400 block of N. County Road 1225 West near the river, where they pronounced the young man, identified as Evan Wood of Monticello, dead at the scene.
An initial investigation indicated Wood was reported missing from his residence yesterday, with family and friends actively searching for him when his body was discovered. The cause of death remains uncertain, pending autopsy results. While details are still unfolding, DNR officers are piecing together Wood's movements after he was last heard from around 10 p.m. on Sunday, as reported by WISHTV.
The call to authorities came shortly after 11 a.m., and Wood was soon identified by the investigators, with his death being confirmed right at river's edge. Local police have requested that anyone with information about Wood's whereabouts after 10 p.m. on Sunday should contact Indiana Conservation Officers Dispatch at 812-837-9536, as reiterated by WRTV.
