A high school student from Nashville has been charged after a staff member observed him with what appeared to be a rifle on school grounds. The incident involving the McGavock High School student unfolded yesterday, prompting an investigation by local authorities. The Metro Nashville Police Department reported the discovery of a rifle-style pellet gun in the student's possession.

According to FOX17, law enforcement was called to the scene after a 16-year-old was reportedly seen handling a weapon in the school parking lot. When officers arrived, they found the pellet gun and also searched his vehicle, which contained a machete and hunting knife.

The student claimed to have been on a hunting trip prior to the incident. He stated that he was in the process of moving the pellet gun from the back seat of the car to the trunk, as outlined in a report by WKRN.

The student now faces charges for carrying a weapon onto school property, a serious offense that the juvenile court is processing, as WSMV reported.
