This morning in downtown Indianapolis, a fatal incident occurred when a male pedestrian was hit by a car. The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, as reported by FOX59, responded to the scene at the intersection of West 10th Street and North Illinois Street just before 3:30 a.m. following reports of a personal injury accident.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a car had struck a male pedestrian. The victim was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. Tragically, he later succumbed to his injuries. According to WTHR, debris from the crash including clothing was scattered around the intersection, and a sedan at the scene showed front bumper damage.

The driver involved in the incident remained on the scene and is cooperating with law enforcement officials. WISH-TV reports that a standard procedure blood draw will be conducted to determine if intoxication was a factor in the deadly crash. At this time, authorities are working to understand the circumstances that led up to the tragedy.

While the investigation is ongoing, police have yet to release the identity of the deceased. The driver's fate remains uncertain as officials have not indicated whether they will face any charges in relation to the accident.
