
A tragic accident in Shelby County claimed the life of a driver on Christmas Eve when their vehicle collided with a tree, according to officials from the Shelby County Sheriff's Department. The mishap, which occurred around 2:30 p.m. near the crossing of County Roads 900 North and 675 West, northwest of Fairland, involved a single car that initially veered off the road, and despite the driver's attempt to correct the path, the vehicle subsequently struck a tree, WTHR reported.
The Sheriff’s Office, detailing the events leading up to the crash, indicated that no other vehicles were caught up in the incident, a detail echoed in reports by WISH-TV, while shedding light on the sequence of events where the vehicle briefly left the roadway and then overcorrected, an action that tragically led to its collision with a tree.
The name of the deceased individual, who was found inside the vehicle by arriving deputies, is currently withheld pending notification of next of kin, according to the statement given by the Shelby County Coroner's Office, which also announced intentions to release the identity of the victim once the formal processes have been observed, as per FOX59.
