
A 14-year-old boy's life came to a tragic end on Monday night when he was fatally shot inside an apartment in Chicago's Little Village neighborhood. The incident took place on the 2200 block of South Christiana Avenue around 10:20 p.m.
Officers, responding to a call of a person shot, found the boy with a life-threatening gunshot wound to the chest. Despite attempts at life-saving measures, he was transported to Stroger Hospital where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries, as reported by WGN-TV. The victim has been identified as Joshua Sanchez, according to the Chicago Police Department.
Evidence of the shooting was visibly marked by a bullet hole in the window of the apartment, with the circumstances leading up to the gunfire remaining unclear. Chicago police have yet to disclose whether the shots were fired from within or outside the residence. Currently, no arrests have been made and the search for the suspect is ongoing, as per details from CBS News Chicago.
