Early Monday morning witnessed a critical incident in South Salt Lake as two drivers were severely injured in a collision that involved a police patrol car. According to KSLTV, the crash occurred at 210 West and 3900 South and entailed a triad of vehicles. One of the injured is believed to quickly be in his 60s or 70s, while the other is estimated to be in his 20s or 30s, detailed Detective Ryan Alvarez from the South Salt Lake police.
The involvement of a white Chevrolet Tahoe and a blue armored cash transport vehicle was conspicuous at the accident scene. "The officer involved in the crash was not injured and was stopped at the light at the time of the crash," Alvarez said, as obtained by ABC4. Despite the officer's lack of motion and engagement in the collision, the severity of the crash propelled both drivers to the hospital under life support. The Utah Highway Patrol has assumed the role of chief investigator in the sequence of events that culminated in this unfortunate turn.
As reported by KSL, both injured drivers were promptly taken to medical facilities to stand under the required care. Alvarez did not lay bare the specifics of the injuries but affirmed that they were serious enough to necessitate immediate and intensive attention.
