This week, a law enforcement operation in Boston's South End led to six arrests at 231 West Newton Street. District Attorney Kevin Hayden stated the arrests were part of efforts to address issues at the property. The raid, involving the Area D-4, A-1 Drug Control, and Human Trafficking units, resulted in charges mostly related to drug possession, as stated by the Suffolk District Attorney's Office.
Despite prior police actions, including the arraignment of eight individuals in November, issues have continued at the location. Community complaints have persisted for years, and in December, police were called over a dozen times for drug-related incidents. The recent operation resulted in the seizure of crystal meth, crack cocaine, fentanyl, and various prescription pills, as reported by the Suffolk District Attorney's Office.
Boston police recently raided a South End property in "complete disarray," finding exposed hypodermic needles and posing a public health risk. Six people were arrested, including residents Schanwat Wilailak and Michael Collins, who face revoked bails and will have a pre-trial hearing on February 12. Juan Pola Jr. was arrested on drug charges with a $5,000 bail, and Warren Kenyon was taken into custody for an outstanding warrant. The city's inspectional department has been called to inspect the property. District Attorney Hayden stated, "This second round of arrests makes perfectly clear that Boston police and our prosecutors have every intention of keeping the pressure on this address. This neighborhood and the law-abiding people that reside in it don’t deserve to have their quality of life degraded by this problem propert," according to the Suffolk District Attorney's Office.
