A tragic incident unfolded in Fort Wayne yesterday as a woman's life was claimed by gun violence. The Fort Wayne Police Department responded to a 911 hang-up call at approximately 12:41PM, only to discover the victim of a shooting upon arriving at the scene on Dunkelberg Road. Despite the swift action of officers, along with Fort Wayne Fire and TRAA, the woman, who was found suffering from gunshot wounds, succumbed to her injuries after being transported to a local hospital. The identity of the deceased has not yet been released pending next of kin notification.
The authorities have quickly moved to apprehend a suspect, an adult male now in custody, as they work to piece to unravel the details surrounding the shooting. An active investigation is being carried out by Homicide detectives, with the gravity of the situation prompting a tight-lipped approach as they gather evidence. According to the official FWPD press release, "the circumstances surrounding the shooting are actively being investigated."
