Hamilton County officials have recently celebrated the longstanding dedication of their employees, honoring a collective 2,000 years of service. In a ceremony that acknowledged the commitment of 131 staffers, service awards were presented to those marking significant employment milestones. These awards are distributed every five years, symbolizing the county's appreciation for its workforce.

"Our goal is to give the citizens and taxpayers of Hamilton County the most responsive governmental services possible," said Human Resources Director Sheena Randall in a statement obtained by the Hamilton County website. This celebration is meant to not only recognize the employees but to also highlight their contributions in delivering quality services to the community. Top honors this year went to four employees who have each dedicated 45 years to the county, showcasing their unwavering commitment.

Among those with the most tenure were former auditor Robin Mills and Sheena Randall herself, alongside Janet Hansen from the Surveyor’s Office, and Peggy Nation of the Clerk’s Office. "I am a Hamilton County born and raised gal," Mills told the Hamilton County website. "I stayed all these years because Hamilton County is a great place to work and raise a family." Employment perks such as health insurance, paid holidays, and a 37.5-hour work week were cited as reasons for the employees' loyalty, according to the Hamilton County website.

This year's ceremony spotlighted various levels of service. Five employees are set to celebrate 40 years, two are marking 35, another five will hit the 30-year mark, and 12 will observe 25 years of service. There were also 14 employees reaching the 20-year milestone, complemented by 14 acknowledging 15 years, 27 celebrating a decade, and a sizeable 48 who are crossing the five-year threshold. A complete list of the honored employees was made available by the county.
